Vegan Doctors that are Making a Difference in the Healthcare Industry

Trend

These doctors offer both online and in-person consultations to help people understand that the healthcare industry should only be secondary and that your health and wellbeing start with you.

What you eat, how you move, and the relationships you keep all contribute to causing health or disease.

They may not tell you what you want to hear, but their knowledge and approach to disease is what you need to stay empowered about health and wellbeing.

Dr. Michael Greger

Dr. Greger is a vegan medical doctor and the founder of Nutrition Facts, a platform that provides the latest research on food and nutrition and how they affect health.

His grandmother inspired his career and vegan pathway after being diagnosed with end-stage heart disease at the age of 65.

She was then taken through lifestyle medicine by an early pioneer, Nathan Pritikin.

Plant-based nutrition became the epitome of her treatment, and within three weeks, she was off the wheelchair and walking 10 miles a day.

She ended up reversing her heart condition and living for 31 more years.

Dr. Neal Barnard

Dr. Benard is a diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease expert and a  low-fat whole plant food advocate.

He founded the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) in 1985 as he wanted to promote preventive medicine and to change the conventional animal killing and testing done in medical schools.

He also took part in a lawsuit against unhealthy dietary guidelines shared by the USDA in 2016.

Dr. Michael Klaper

Dr. Klaper has been in the medical field for over 40 years and believes that health comes from healthy living.

He is a leading educator and advocate in integrative medicine and applied plant-based nutrition.

Throughout his practice, he has seen conditions such as hypertension, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and atherosclerosis worsen with high fat, high sugar, high salt, highly processed standard American diet.

Dr. Kim Williams

Dr. Kim William is an American vegan cardiologist and the former president at the American College of Cardiology.

He is currently the chief cardiologist at Rush University in Chicago. He mainly focuses on cardiology prevention and nutrition in improving risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

Besides his career, he is also helping hospitals and schools offer plant-based options as a means to improve overall health and longevity.

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn

Dr. Esselstyn is the famous heart disease specialist that came to the aid of Ex-president Bill Clinton in 2010.

He is also the prime father of the plant-based movement, having reversed several coronary artery issues in countless number of patients.

He advocates for a low-fat whole food plant-based. His approach may seem extreme for some people, as his recommendations exclude oils, avocado, seeds, and nuts.

Dr. Esselstyn has been featured in the famous vegan documentaries, What The Health and Forks Over Knives.

One of his famous quotes states that

“My message is clear and absolute: coronary artery disease need not exist, and if it does, it need not progress. It is my dream that one day we may entirely abolish heart disease, the scourge of the affluent, modern West, along with an impressive roster of other chronic illnesses.”
